Astral was founded by Jed McCaleb, a founding member of Ripple Labs and developer of the Ripple protocol.
Astral is an open blockchain network.
It is designed to provide enterprise solutions connecting financial institutions for large transactions. Typically, large transactions between banks and investment companies take days, have high costs and involve several intermediaries.
Astral makes it possible for transactions of this size to be completed almost immediately and without intermediaries. There is no cost. Although Astral focuses on corporate blockchain for institutional transactions, it is open to anyone who wants to use it.
The Astral system enables international financial transactions between any currencies.
The currency used on the Astral network is Lumens (XLM).
